Ratko is one of two Omangan heroes, along with Gen. Stanje Matic, who ended the First Northern Rebellion. Though the cybernetic prosthesis should have healed the tissue deterioration that he incurred while fighting dissidents in the irradiated region around the fallen city of Eloretel, rumors persisted that he was not the pilot he once was, and he himself requested to be transferred to become a military instructor.
